Rimoi national Reserve
Rimoi national Reserve is an animal conservation reserve that is located in the Elgeyo Marakwet County in Kenya, it is relatively small reserve, covering 66km2, but set inside a conservation area 5 times greater and is located 30 km from Iten town along the Kabarnet- Eldoret road on the floor of the Kerio Valley. The reserve is protected by the Kenya Wildlife Service.
The reserve is one of the spectator protected area of the Kerio valley with very rich biodiversity and panoramic landscape, the reserve is abit remote but never the less gives you the best and unforgettable adventure and a four wheel drive might be needed during the rainy season by the guests in the reserve. Rimoi National reserve is well known for the its population of the elephants, unlike other reserves and parks where their elephants move in a group of three or five, the reserve’s elephants move in a group of 100.
Rimoi national reserve is surrounded by a special tribe in Kenya which is known as the athletes especially runners and the tribe is called the Kalenjin.

Cheptarit Hill.
Cheptarit Hill in the reserve is the greatest experience, which is the mouth dropping views of the valley alongside beautiful hot springs, the place is also very rich in culture and history.

The Reserve is endowed with many bird species from Turacos, honey guides, pigeons, sunbirds, Weaver’s, hornbills and among others, in the reserve some of these are the migratory birds while others are the residential and the best place to engage in this activity is in Lake Tabar.

Rimoi National Reserve can be accessed by both the air and road means of transport from Nairobi to the reserve.
By Road Transport.
Here you use your own vehicle, or public means of transport or the tour van. The reserve is about 300 km from Nairobi which is about five hour drive. Iten Kabarnet road is a natural spectacular view of the scenic tic surrounding country side, 40 kilometers drive from Eldoret town drive to Iten town world athletics’ capital.
By Air Transport.
The reserve is accessible by air means of transport as well that can be booked online. Where you arrive at Eldoret and then taken to Rimoi National reserve which is about an hours’ drive.
Rimoi National Reserve provides the unique geological scenery and biodiversity and is one of the few protected areas within the spectacular Kerio Valley.
