Safari Accommodations in Samburu National Reserve

A lodge is a type of lodging that is situated and designed to maximise the sensation of being in close proximity to nature. Natural construction materials and colours, such wood, stone, and thatch, should be included into the design. The lodge should provide outdoor Kenya safaris activities like wildlife drives and guided walks.

Samburu Game lodge

Samburu wildlife Lodge, one of Kenya’s first wildlife lodges, opened its doors in 1962. This classic safari resort is spread out along the Ewaso Nyiro River’s banks. Standard rooms, river rooms, junior suites, and cottages comprise the 61 en suite accommodations. The main lodge and pool are next to the regular accommodations, some of which have connected rooms for larger families. The river apartments feature verandas with views of the river and four-poster beds. The junior suites are larger and feature a dressing area, a bathroom with a bath and a shower, and a balcony overlooking the river. With their thatched roofs and stone floors, the cottages provide greater privacy for larger gatherings of people. The restaurant has views of the river and a buffet. Overlooking the location of the daily crocodile feeding, Crocodile Bar is situated on the riverbanks.

Nestled amidst the trees, Vulturine Bar offers stunning views of the river and is the perfect spot to toast to the sunset. With a view of the pool, the pool bar offers light fare and beverages. With views over the restaurant, the elevated spa provides a variety of massage, manicure, and pedicure services. Kenya game drives safaris in the morning and evening, as well as nature walks that focus on the abundant birdlife, are available activities. The silver prize for Ecotourism Kenya is held by Samburu Game Lodge.

Sasaab

Sasaab, perched majestically atop the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River, offers breath-taking views over the dry terrain of northern Kenya and towards the rugged slopes of Mount Kenya. Situated to the west of the Samburu and Buffalo Springs National Reserves, Sasaab is part of Westgate Community Land. The nine opulent, open-plan rooms are decorated in a Moroccan-inspired manner. Measuring more than 100 square metres apiece, they offer stunning views of the surrounding landscape and a plenty of seclusion. All of the rooms feature WiFi, en suite open-air bathrooms, and private plunge pools. Two of the rooms link, making them ideal for a family. Modern Spa Saab from Sasaab is tucked away among the rocks near the Ewaso Nyiro River. The two treatment rooms and the wrap-around pool provide visitors expansive views of the wildlife-rich riverbed. In keeping with Sasaab’s strict environmental regulations, Liz Earle has created a skincare line that is entirely organic and incorporates herbs and plants from the natural world. Sasaab is the proud owner of the gold medal from the Ecotourism Society of Kenya. There are game drives on the conservancy as well as in the national reserves of Samburu and Buffalo Springs, which are well-known for their diverse animal life. The nature walk offers kids the opportunity to produce traditional Samburu toothbrushes and bows. November Sasaab is closed.

Samburu Sopa Lodge

Due to its elevated location, Samburu Sopa Lodge offers expansive views of both Mount Kenya and the far-off Samburu Hills. Rich earth tones were used in the lodge’s design, and local antiques were used for decoration. A waterhole that the resort looks out over draws a variety of wildlife, including birds. The thirty cottages are arranged in the shape of a buffalo horn and converge into the center’s communal spaces. With two queen-sized beds and a private veranda, each cottage includes two ensuite bedrooms. Guests with impairments can stay in the two rooms closest to the reception. The waterhole is visible from the lobby, bar and rooms. A buffet breakfast, lunch, and supper are served in the dining area, which also has a view of the waterhole. Weekly theme meals are served, including gala dinners, African buffets, and seaside buffets.

The chairs include a buffalo horn-shaped backrest, and the furniture has been intricately carved. There are displays of local stones and other materials. In addition, there is a gift shop and a swimming pool with sunbathing decks at the lodge. Among the kenya tour activities are bird watching and escorted nature walks. Samburu culture talks and excursions to nearby Samburu villages are also available. It is possible to arrange sundowners and bush dinners. Ecotourism Kenya has awarded Samburu Sopa Lodge a bronze award.

Samburu Simba lodge

Samburu Simba Lodge boasts vistas of rushing water and dry landscapes, with a glimpse of Buffalo Springs and the Ewaso Nyiro River. The reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Beisa oryx, and long-necked gerenuk are among the rare species of wildlife that may be found in this region. Elephants are another prominent feature of the area. Seven villas house the seventy en suite rooms. Ten rooms total—six on the ground floor and four on the first—including two connecting rooms that are ideal for families. There is a safe at the front desk. The menu of the restaurant is international. With a view of the plains, the Ibis Pub features satellite TV. A variety of soft drinks, beers, and spirits are available at the Pool Bar. The lodge features a fitness club and two swimming pools. For an additional fee, activities such as bush lunches, sundowners, picnics, and game drives can be planned. At the property, balloon safaris can also be scheduled and paid for. Four halls of the conference centre bear the names of various kenya safari tour destinations. There are 125 seats in Naivasha Hall, 75 in Magadi Hall, and 60 in each of Baringo and Bogoria Hall. Additionally, there is a business centre that can accommodate 12 people as a boardroom.

Sarova Shaba Game Lodge

Sarova Shaba Game Lodge is surrounded by the natural wilderness of Shaba National Reserve, the place where Joy Adamson spent her last years reintegrating a lion into the wild. This desert northern reserve is home to resident species such as Beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, and Grevy’s zebra. Five of the 350 bird species that can be found here are native to the region. The lodge features two stories with eighty en suite guestrooms, twenty doubles, fifteen triples, and forty twin rooms. Every room has a thatch and a view of the river. Additionally, there are four executive suites with private lounges and a presidential suite with a private lounge and Jacuzzi. The rooms on the ground floor are accessible for visitors with impairments. The Ewaso Nyiro River and the freeform pool are visible from the split-level Surpelei Restaurant. Breakfast and lunch buffets are available at the restaurant. On alternating days, dinner is table d’hote with active Mongolian cooking. Both a poolside bar and a lounge bar are available. The popular TV programme Survivor Africa recently filmed in Shaba, and the lodge is currently hosting a Sarova Shaba Survivor Challenge. The animation crew is prepared to support team-building exercises. The conference rooms have up-to-date audio-visual technology. A viewing platform for crocodiles spans the river. Every night, dancers from Samburu, Borana, and Turkana perform. The Zawadi loyalty scheme is offered by Sarova Hotels. A bronze award from the Ecotourism Society of Kenya is held by Shaba Game Lodge.
