Lions’ Cave Camp is a mid-range accommodation found in the Kalama wildlife conservancy in the close proximity of samburu national park in the beautiful location in Northern Kenya. The region is home to a wide range of animals, especially elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, and Samburu’s special five. Situated on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River, the camp offers panoramic views of the African landscape.
How to get there:
One can be at the camp by road transport, which takes approximately 5-6 hours’ drive from Nairobi city to the park or an hour from Nairobi to the close kalama airstrip then few minutes’ drive to be transferred to the camp.
About the camp
Lions’ cave camp consists of over 5 spacious and comfortable tents with the view of the river and the wilderness that reflects African traditional building style with natural materials, constructed with stones and grass thatched roofs.
Tents are well elevated with raised platform and furnished with high-standard private en-suite facilities of flushing toilets, separate cold and hot showers, wrapped mosquito nets, free toiletries, complementary bottled water, chairs and tables, among others
Each room has sitting areas, verandas and terraces overlooking the stunning views over the savannah, River Ewaso Nyiro and mountains beyond.
Tents are well equipped with comfortable and excellent beds with clean bedding. The camp offers single beds for individuals, double/twin, and triple/family rooming options.
There is a fireplace where fire glows with comfortable chairs for guests to relax in and share stories/experiences about the safaris and it provides warmth during cold nights.
Services and facilities include
A dining area in the main building that serves delicious food, both local and international meals, that meets guests appetite ; Continental breakfast overlooking the wilderness; and picnic lunch and dinner, both indoor and outdoor, especially bush barbeque dinner facing elephant meandering along the banks of the river and morning sunrise when on bush breakfast. Meals are served by well-trained, organized and welcoming staff.
A well-stocked bar with a variety of refreshments, both hard and soft like local ,cocktail , wines, spirits and international beers , you relax as you sip drink of your choice while overlooking the spectacular view of the Ewaso Nyiro river , wild beasts especially elephants, meandering along the river and surrounding areas.

About the park
Samburu national park is among the lesser-known parks and the smallest park found in the northern part near the Ewaso Ng’iro river in Kenya in Samburu country. The park occupies the total area of 165square kilometers and 345 km from Nairobi. Samburu country is located in Kenya’s former rift valley. The park is home to over 200 mammals, including giraffes, buffaloes, elephants, big cats, leopards, lions, zebras, warthogs, olive baboons, and many others, as well as 390 species of birds, such as sunbirds, bee-eaters, tawny eagles, grey-headed kingfishers, yellow-billed hornbills, and many more.

The Samburu are a subtribe of the Maasai; they are Nilotic people of north-central Kenya. These are semi-nomadic pastoralists with herds of cattle, goats, sheep, and camels.
