Detailed itinerary.
Day 1: Transfer from Nairobi to Tsavo East National Park.
On the first day of the safari, you will be picked up from Kenyatta International Airport or your hotel in Nairobi by your safari driver, who will welcome you and provide a briefing about the 3-day Tsavo East National Park safari; afterward, you will begin the approximately 6-7 hour drive to Tsavo East National Park, during which you will enjoy stunning views of beautiful landscapes and the Taita Hills before entering the park.
Tsavo East National Park is a famous tourist safari destination located in the semi-arid area of the Taru Desert near the town of Voi in Taita Taveta County, formerly known as Coast province. The park is famous for hosting a large population of man-eaters and red elephants, which get their color from the red dust they roll in.
And at the time you arrive at the park, you will check in to your lodge and be served with lunch, and if time allows, you will go on the afternoon game drive where you will sight various wildlife in the park that is lions, buffaloes, antelopes, rhinos, elephants and others, and watch various bird species. After the experience, you will be transferred back to your lodge and be served with dinner, then relax and have an overnight stay.
Day 2: Full day in Tsavo East National Park with optional Maasai village tours.
On the 2nd day of the tour, you will wake up early in the morning and be served with a delicious breakfast, you will meet your safari driver then head to the park for a morning game drive. Tsavo East national park is a famous protected area for hosting a large population of man-eaters (lions), on the drive you will see many animals such as pride of animals, red elephants, rhinos, buffaloes, hippo, crocodiles, waterbucks and many more, and the park is known for over 500 bird species, that is during the game drive you will as well spot diverse numbers of the beautiful and colourful bird species or alternatively in the morning you can go for the Maasai village tour in Tsavo East National Park as this offers an enriching cultural experience that allows the visitors to gain insight into the traditional way of life of the Maasai people. During the tour, you will have the opportunity to visit a local Maasai village, where you will be welcomed by the community and introduced to their traditions.
You will learn about the Maasai’s semi-nomadic lifestyle and their rich culture, and you will also have the chance to participate in traditional dances and singing, among many other things. After the morning game drive, you will be transferred back to your lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will return to the park in the afternoon for another game drive, where you will have the opportunity to spot more animal species, especially those you missed during the morning game drive. You can also explore the Galana River, which is a haven for wildlife, particularly during the dry season, and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. After the afternoon game drive, you will be transferred back to your lodge for dinner, relaxation and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Depart back to Nairobi.
On the last day of the safari, you will wake up early in the morning and be served with a hearty breakfast; after, you will check out from your lodge and then meet your safari guide and depart from the lodge. Along the way you will have the enroute game drive, you will watch various wildlife in the park and then you will proceed with your journey to Nairobi.
Along the way you will have lunch en route, and after lunch you will embark on your journey to Nairobi. When you get to Nairobi, you will be dropped off at your hotel or at the Jomo Kenyatta International airport for your departure flight back home; that will make your safari come to an end.
