Sasaab
Sasaab is a luxury tented safari lodge located in the wilderness of Samburu national reserve and perched on the edge of a river valley, the architecture of this tented safari lodge blends Swahili and Moroccan design principals in which the African heat is primary consideration.
Sasaab has 9 canvas-sided room and each of the rooms is over 100 square meters with private plunge pools and breathtaking views across the Laikipia Plateau towards the jagged peaks of Mount Kenya. The lodge is strategically located in a place above the river that naturally facilitates watching the herds of elephants that come to the river to bathe below and other wildlife which come to drink water.
LUXURY SAFARI TENTS
Sasaab offers luxury accommodation in nine luxury safari tents perched high above the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River with each tent offering a serene escape in the heart of the Samburu wilderness. Each of the rooms was designed to maximize the spectacular views of the spectacular surrounding landscape as well as the entire front of each tent can open up to let in a breeze.
Every room has a delightful private veranda with a plunge pool and sun loungers, perfect for gazing out at the majestic views and passing wildlife below. The designs of each of these luxury safari tents is best described as a fusion of Moroccan and Swahili styles, the canvas walls with mosquito netting doors and windows mean most of the sides can be opened of you wish, allowing for uninhabited views and a cooling breeze. Rooms at Sasaab are a little commanding than the word tent might suggest, with high thatched roofs and cool polished concrete floors. The rooms feature four poster beds, enormous bathrooms and private plunge pools which make the tents completely invigorating experience and the ultimate luxury safari accommodation in Kenya.
Sasaab has a main swimming pool built on the hillside overlooking the river.
Luxury safari tents at Sasaab are categorized as double Tents and family suite (Tents 8 and 9), the family suite have a shared central area and can be classified as an exclusive villa with separate access. In these tents, extra beds can be added to this and some of the other tents. However, this is subject to availability and prior arrangements when booking.
SASAAB DOUBLE TENTS
Double Tents at Sasaab are spacious double luxury tents boasting spectacular views from the private veranda and plunge pool, double tents are 7 providing ultimate luxurious accommodation in Samburu national reserve.
These spacious double luxury safari tents are spread out along a rocky ridge looking down over the Ewaso Nyiro River and each of the tent commands spectacular views across the Samburu landscape to distant hills beyond. The tents provide a feeling of space, a sense of being immersed in nature and an air of serenity and seclusion permeates each tent. Each tent is a tempting space to spend your time relaxing and this is due to the wide open vistas, cool polished floors and private verandas with plunge pools and sun loungers. The tents have enormous bathrooms, four poster king-sized beds and ample lounging space come as standard.
Each of the double tent at Sasaab is subtly different in design, but all of the tents share the same amenities and incredible panoramas.
- Tent 1 – is situated furthest from the main mess area along a winding gravel pathway, its plunge pool faces downriver
- Tent 2 – is slightly situated closer and has a rooftop terrace
- Tent 3- is situated closer to the main mess tent
- Tent 4- is the nearest room to the central dining area and is therefore best suited for visitors with less mobility.
In other directions, there is Tents 6 and 7 which are the furthest rooms from the central area and they are followed by Tent 5 along the winding gravel pathways. Tent 4 and 6 can be configured as twin rooms as well as doubles.
All double tent safari tents at Sasaab are spacious enough to accommodate a baby cot or an additional third bed for a child if required, although this must be prearranged when booking your stay.

SAMBURU FAMILY SUITE
Samburu Sasaab provided an ultimate Samburu family Suite in Tents 8 and 9 which are family tents, these tents perfectly accommodate families and friends on a Kenya safari to Samburu national reserve. Samburu Family Suite is perched a few meters above the sandy banks of Ewaso Nyiro River, these tents are the lowest tents at the camp commanding sweeping riverside views out into the wilderness.
Samburu Family Suite features 2 spacious bathrooms, one double and one twin rooms. These are connected by an enormous lounge area and a wooden veranda spanning the whole tent complex with plunge pool looking out over the river, sun loungers and ample seating area for relaxing.
While sleeping in these tents you get to wake up to the sights and sounds of nature right from your bed, the front of each tent can completely be open giving you an opportunity to gaze out onto nature whilst enjoying a morning tea or coffee in bed. From your own private villa, you get to enjoy high levels of seclusions and feeling of being totally immersed in the wilderness of Samburu.
The large deck of these tents is perfect for private dining for those who want it, for visitors who wish to avoid walking down the winding gravel path way from the main dining area, there is a separate drive-in entrance to the tent complex.
