Camp Carnelley’s in Kenya is a family-run camp located on the Lake Naivasha in enchanting Kenya, the Camp Carnelley’s is a must see on your African safari it is about 1.5 hour journey from Nairobi to Naivasha in the East African Rift Valley, regardless if you just drop by or stay there. Camp Carnelley’s is easily accessible to Naivasha town only 19 kilometers down the south Lake road and there is easy access to shops nearby and there is a terrific atmosphere in the camp which makes it so unique where you come relax and also explore the camp site.
Accommodations.
There are several budget accommodation options available at camp Carnelley’s from the bing-your-own tent campsite to bandas (traditional huts), cottages and dormitories, all of them are surrounded by the lush gardens and a fever tree forest, but if you pitch your own tent you have the best chance of securing a lake view. The bandas sleep six and have an ensuite bathroom and a private garden the camp provides beddings, blankets, lamps, and mosquito nets, as do the cottages (sleeping two). The dormitories sleep eight and share loos and showers with the campsite. All have access to the personal barbeue pits.
The surrounding Lake Naivasha is very beautiful, but increasingly, nature shares the sun with some large, industrial flower farms and a growing human population it’s not really a problem, but if you have visited Naivasha before you might surprise how much the area has changed.
Restaurant.
After a long Kenya safari day enjoying the lake and all there is on offer there is nothing better than a lovely meal at Lazybones and conversing with other guests on your days experience, Lazybones bar is a fabulous eco-bar and restaurant decorated with lots of plants, big colorful cushions, and hammocks, the restaurant is known to produce some of the best food around the lake all the meals are extremely healthy in portion at very affordable prices, there is also a wood burning Italian pizzeria producing the most delicious Italian pizzas, most refreshments are available from the smoothies to fresh juice, cocktails, beers to liquors. There is normally a buffet lunch served at weekends. If you are looking for some competitive or relaxed fun the games room is fully equipped with a darts board and pool table with a great view of the camp.
Lazybones Bar and Restaurant is the hub of the camp, it’s informal and relaxed, and here the guest can be serenaded by the birds from the adjacent feeding station (the black and white colobus monkeys make regular appearances too). At night there is a convivial atmosphere around the camp fire, by day, the same area serves as the scenic magnificent fever trees, and there are several shady spots from which to soak up the views of the lake.
Entertainment.
After your meal you can enjoy some music or visit the game room for agame of pool, there is also the satellite TV, so you will not miss that all-important sport event.
